Partners at Te Herenga Waka

Ramsey House at 8 Kelburn Parade can be the home of your regular group meeting on campus or a one-off event. Here’s some information on other faith-based groups that use our space that might be a good fit for you too.

If there’s a group you need a home for, we’d love to talk through how we can support you.

Victoria Christian Fellowship

Victoria Christian Fellowship is part of TSCF, a movement of Christian students around Aotearoa, eager to live and share the good news of Jesus.  We welcome anyone who is exploring who Jesus is and how he wants to work to bring transformation to the brokenness we see in us and around us. You will find like-minded students to journey with, no matter where you’re at along the way.

He ākonga ki ngā ākonga hei ara whakawhiti mō te Karaiti (Students to students building a bridge to Christ).

Community of the Transfiguration

An intentional residential (live-in) community within the Anglican Diocese of Wellington that commits to prayer, study and service to the university, connected closely through the Chaplaincy. You’ll see Transfig members help out in our cafe, run an open-invite Friday night potluck, and many other events through the year.

If you’re interested in what it means to live as a part of this community, or looking into living arrangements for next year, contact Rev. Mel Mckenzie or Rev. Jessie Black.

Student Christian Movement (SCM)

Founded in 1896, SCM Aotearoa has a proud history of progressive theology and active involvement with current affairs in the world, Church and student life. We believe the radical and liberating way of God breaks down divides and brings those on the margins to the centre. Consequently, we seek to be welcoming to all, especially people marginalised by sexuality, ability, gender, health, or ethnicity. We are a rainbow-affirming community and seek to be a safe space to have faith-based conversations about gender and sexuality.

SCM Victoria is excited to relaunch after a period of dormancy due to the pandemic. We're kicking off the year with a Fringe Theology workshop co-hosted by St Peter's on Willis where we'll explore new metaphors for God's action in our world. We're also planning on hosting public talks exploring Christian activism, eco-theology, theological cases for and against the monarchy, and more!

Check out their website or facebook to learn more, or contact Michael Toy at publictheologian@scm.org.nz

Please note that there will be a diversity of theological views in the groups below. We hope you find a group that welcomes, loves, and challenges you to grow closer to Jesus.
